Future-proof water management

Climate change is putting our current water management firmly to the test. Heavy rainfall, cluster showers or prolonged droughts ask for adjustments in traditional water management. This may for example refer to temporal water storage to mitigate peak floods, and to water retention to limit land subsidence of peat soils. Our expertise on the ecological responses to natural water dynamics may contribute to innovative solutions; in collaboration with other partners, we have developed the Better Wetter program to design and plan tailor-made solutions for regional climate adaptation.
